Pacific Coast Brain Injury Conference Society

The Pacific Coast Brain Injury Conference Society (PCBICS) supports people living with brain injury and their loved ones, and professionals working in the field of brain injury. It provides educational information to increase awareness and prevention of brain injury, and resources for those living with and recovering from brain injuries.

The PCBICS has been organizing the Pacific Coast Brain Injury Conference (PCBIC) for over 20 years, and has raised over a million dollars to support itself and attendance of brain injury survivors.

Brainstreams.ca is an online education and social network for professionals and brain injury survivors; it launched at the 2010 Conference. It is the first website in British Columbia and Canada to support this community.

Challenge

The owners of brainstreams.ca recognized that they needed to enhance the capabilities of their site if they were to deliver on their mandate of being the primary resource for brain injury information and treatment. This meant they had to offer better services to both practitioners and patients. With the annual conference looming, timing was critical to get the new site up and running.

Solution

We redesigned the website to support the PCBICS mission. We built an improved mapping functionality that lets users search for a map of specialized clinics and related resources. We also integrated their current e-newsletter on the site, and created additional learning resource pages for practitioners to stimulate better sharing of research and information related to treating brain injuries.

Results

Brainstreams.ca is a more capable website better suited to the growing needs of its users. It helped the client raise its profile online and achieve greater awareness and success within the brain injury community.
